JLL Seeks to Achieve New Ambitions To Celebrate 20 years in the Philippines

Official Press Release

May 25, 2017

A global history dating as far back as 250 years. An Asia Pacific presence of over 50 years, including 20 years here in the Philippines.

That is the wealth of experience and expertise that JLL brings to its clients and employees in the realm of real estate services.

Established as Jones Lang Wooton in London 250 years ago, JLL entered the US market in the '70's. The success they enjoyed in their US operations on the back of a strong global potential led them to merge with La Salle Partners in 1999.  That particular moment served as the turning point for JLL, which then jumped the crossroads from a private partnership to a publicly listed firm at the New York Stock Exchange.

From then on, the opportunity to branch out to other countries became inevitable.

It was The Enterprise Center (TEC) in Makati which started JLL's operations in the Philippines back in 1997. A building of such magnitude required a property expert who could take charge of marketing, leasing and management as seamless as possible.  Lindsay Orr, Chairman of JLL Philippines, recalls "We managed TEC for around five years. We started operations during the construction phase and managed it until it was fully occupied and beyond. But what was more notable was how the quality of properties built and developed after TEC improved substantially.  We believe that the quality of work we put in TEC helped real estate developers and as an encouragement for them to come up with buildings which are resilient and stunning both in structure and design."

Lindsay adds that much of the growth of JLL in the Philippines can be traced to the entry and robust development of the BPO industry in the country beginning in 2002. With the entry of BPO companies came the high demand for office space, and consequently, the upward spiral of the real estate industry. JLL was more than able to satisfy this demand, translating to as much as 75 to 80% growth in their business at that time.

Today, Orr is proud to say that JLL has held the helm and is consistently recognized as one of the best property consultancies in the Philippines. JLL is also globally recognized in the Fortune 500 World's Most Admired Companies List, and also as a World's Most Ethical Company.

Simultaneous to the appointment of Christophe Vicic as Country Head of the Philippines, JLL has launched their new brand identity "Achieve Ambitions". Under this new slogan, JLL is striving to innovate so they can always be several steps ahead; be socially, financially, and environmentally sustainable; be powered by diversity and inclusion; and be the smartest when it comes to data, insights and technology.

Orr explains that as more owners and developers are coming to realize the value of their own real estate portfolio, more have also come to realize the value of the work done by JLL.  And for Orr, this has motivated them to work even harder and better so they can provide premiere service for their clients as well as a more rewarding experience for their employees.
