JLL PH achieves WELL pre-certification
JLL Philippines gets international nod for employee wellness-centered office
JLL Philippines’ head office in Makati puts human wellness at the center through air, water, nourishment, light, movement, thermal, sound, acoustics, mind and community
Real estate services and consultancy firm JLL Philippines recently achieved WELL pre-certification for its head office at the NEX Tower in Makati, embodying its commitment to sustainability through its own facilities.
WELL Building Standard certification is a rating system that advances health and well-being in buildings globally by measuring how human wellness is integrated in the structure through air, water, nourishment, light, movement, thermal, sound, acoustics, mind, and community.
“The pandemic has magnified the need for a workspace that puts people at the center of workplace design to help them feel secure, productive, and well taken care of," said Christophe Vicic, JLL Philippines' Country Head. "We are proud that we have built in our head office an archetype environment for the Future of Work, which envisions a sustainable and transformed work environment that focuses on human experience.”
To secure pre-certification, JLL Philippines ensured that WELL building standards are in place in the head office, such as: free seating to allow employees to choose to sit at their preferred thermal zones; a spacious cafe that can house at least 25% of the total staff for social activities; maximized access to daylight, views and connectivity to nature; height-adjustable tables, monitor arms and ergonomic chairs to ensure comfort and flexibility for employees; a mother’s room to help working moms have an easy transition returning to work; and an intricate acoustic treatments to add more dimension and provide a serene environment with speech enhancement.
Moreover, drinking water is regularly tested against WELL requirements to make sure the water is safe and at high quality to drink. Dedicated exhausts and self-closing doors for all copy rooms and pantry are also in place to prevent ozone and smell trespassing to the general office.
JLL Philippines holds office at the NEX Tower, which is pre-certified for a gold-level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The tower is designed to be energy- and resource-efficient, using highly efficient air conditioners available on the market, low-flow fixtures, and double-pane curtain wall with low emissivity.
“In JLL, we have always embedded sustainability at the very core of our real estate services. We are leading the way with our wide-ranging commitments to sustainability—from our global goal to achieve enterprise-wide net zero carbon emissions by 2040 to ensuring sustainable features in our own facilities,” said Vicic.
JLL Philippines’ next webinar, “The Path to WELLness: Best Practices from WELL-certified Developments” happening on September 2 will feature speakers from JLL and developers Arthaland and Menarco who will highlight how they put their people’s and clients’ wellness at the center of their business.
